Diversité 02 is a non-profit organization whose mission is to support individuals affected by or exploring sexual diversity and gender identity plurality (SDGI). We also raise awareness, inform and educate the public about SDGI realities.
We serve as the central resource in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region for issues affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, intersex, Two-Spirit individuals and others with diverse sexual and/or gender identities.
We recognize that people belonging to sexual and gender minorities continue to face distinct forms of discrimination in many areas of life, including social interactions, relationships, employment and politics. Our work is grounded in the ongoing effort to change perceptions and promote the full social inclusion of all community members.
Diversité 02 operates on the unceded territory of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean. Our services cover the regional county municipalities (MRCs) of Domaine-du-Roy, Lac-Saint-Jean-Est, Fjord-du-Saguenay, Maria-Chapdelaine and Saguenay—representing 49 municipalities and one Indigenous community.
In accordance with Law 25 on the protection of personal information, Diversité 02 has appointed Roxanne Gervais as the organization’s designated privacy officer.
The Diversité 02 logo reflects the organization’s core activities. Inspired by the Philadelphia Pride Flag adopted in 2017, its colours pay tribute to the globally recognized rainbow flag.
Each colour has a symbolic meaning: life (red), healing (orange), sunlight (yellow), nature (green), art (blue) and spirituality (purple). The black and brown stripes honour the essential place of racialized communities within LGBTQI2SA+ groups and the ongoing fight against racism.
The wavy lines reflect movement toward change and evoke the waters of Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, symbolizing the strength and resilience of LGBTQI2SA+ communities. The waves also celebrate gender fluidity and the growing visibility of trans, non-binary and gender-creative individuals.
